We are excited to share unforgettable evening at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago, where our client, an avid fashion designer and sewing enthusiast celebrated hr 50th birthday in style. Think dramatic silk drapery, candlelit serpentine tables, and couture-level details inspired by her creative world. Here’s how we brought her vision to life with beauty, emotion, and intention.
Inspiration: A Love of Fashion Comes to Life
There’s something magical that happens when a celebration is designed around a person’s true passion. For this unforgettable 50th birthday, our client invited us to bring her love for fashion, craftsmanship, and luxury to life. The result? A dramatic, candlelit soirée set in the heart of Chicago at the elegant Waldorf Astoria.
From the beginning, we knew this would be a celebration of detail. We leaned into the spirit of haute couture, drawing inspiration from the world of tailoring, sewing, and dramatic runway silhouettes. The vision: immersive, personalized, and layered in texture and emotion. Mia wanted to surround herself with the same creative energy—so we channeled that into the design:
Dramatic drapery hung floor to ceiling, creating soft boudoir-like intimacy in the grand ballroom.
Serpentine tables curved through the space, draped in luxe linens and set with custom napkins and fashion‑inspired place settings.
Candlelight and crystal accents glowed softly, echoing the shimmer of sequins and couture beading.
A Scene Set in Style
We transformed the ballroom with lush, sweeping drapery in rich tones that enveloped guests in a world of sophistication. At the center of it all—serpentine tables draped in custom linens and adorned with flickering candlelight, luxurious florals, and soft curves that moved like fabric in motion. Every table felt like its own story, stitched together to create one beautiful memory.
Signature “Frocktails” & Sewn-In Details
The celebration featured a custom cocktail and mocktail drink menu inspired by the art of sewing—“Mia’s Fashioned” and “The Tailored Tini” stole the show, with couture-inspired stirrers crafted by By Dami Studios adding the perfect finishing touch. Every detail was intentional, playful, and deeply personal.
A Cake Fit for a Fashion Icon
The show-stopping birthday cake, designed by ECBG Cake Studios, resembled a vintage Singer sewing machine atop layers of couture-inspired tiers—equal parts edible art and heartfelt tribute.
A Final Touch of Spark
Entertainment by Spark Entertainment Group filled the room with energy and joy, while warm lighting, stunning rentals, and curated details elevated every corner. The night ended in the glow of candlelight, laughter, and a shared love for design and meaning.
