Why We Believe in Meaningful Celebrations — And Why I Wrote The Art of Celebrating
At Kesh Events, every celebration begins with intention—and The Art of Celebrating is where that philosophy was first put into words.

Why I Wrote The Art of Celebrating
And how it shapes everything we design at Kesh Events
Celebration has always been more than a moment to me—it has been a way of life.
Growing up in Benin City, Nigeria, gathering wasn’t reserved for milestones or formal occasions. It was woven into everyday life. Our home was a place of welcome. Food was prepared with care. Stories were shared freely. People arrived knowing they would be seen, fed, and embraced.
Long before planning became my profession, I was a hostess.
That understanding—that celebration is not about spectacle, but about how people feel—remains the foundation of everything we do at Kesh Events today.

A Hostess First, Always
Growing up in Nigeria, our home was the center of family life. Relatives came together naturally, finding their place around the table. The kitchen was alive with aromas, conversation, laughter and warmth. My mother approached hosting with pride and purpose. Every detail mattered—not to impress, but to make people feel cared for.
That mindset shaped how I view celebration:
Not as an event to execute, but as an experience to be felt.
It’s the same mindset we bring to every wedding, milestone celebration, corporate event, and destination experience we design.

From Hosting to Planning
When I moved to Chicago, hosting became my way of staying connected—to culture, to community, to home. I opened my doors, cooked meals, mixed drinks, and created space for connection.
Over time, that love for gathering evolved into a career in planning and design.
As Kesh Events grew—from intimate dinners to luxury weddings, multi-day celebrations, and global experiences—I noticed something important. Many events were beautifully produced. Logistics were seamless. Design was stunning.
But the emotional layer—the part that makes guests feel truly considered—was often missing.
That realization is what led me to write The Art of Celebrating.
What This Book Represents
The Art of Celebrating is both a hostess’s philosophy and a planner’s perspective. It mirrors the way we approach celebrations at Kesh Events—layer by layer, moment by moment.
The book walks through the elements that shape meaningful gatherings:
Setting intention and inspiration
Creating moments that feel personal
Invitations that establish tone
Thoughtful menu planning and shared meals
Signature drinks and intentional toasts
Florals and table settings that invite connection
Music that defines atmosphere
Capturing moments that live on long after
This is not a book about excess.
It’s about clarity, care, and intention.
The same principles guide our work with clients who want celebrations that feel elevated, immersive, and deeply personal.
The foreword of The Art of Celebrating is written by Rebecca Grinnals and Kathryn Arce, founders of Engage! Summits—a global authority in the luxury wedding and event industry. Their words speak to the importance of intention, leadership, and experience-driven celebrations—values that align deeply with how we approach our work at Kesh Events and how the industry continues to evolve.
The cover photography for The Art of Celebrating was captured by Amy Anaiz, whose work is known for its emotional depth, elegance, and storytelling. Her lens reflects what this book—and our work—stands for: beauty that feels lived-in, layered, and meaningful, rather than staged for effect.
At Kesh Events, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all celebrations. We believe in experiences rooted in story, culture, and hospitality.
The Art of Celebrating gives language to the philosophy our clients experience firsthand—whether they’re hosting a destination wedding, a milestone birthday, a corporate celebration, or an intimate gathering.
It explains why we prioritize:
Guest experience over trends
Meaning over excess
Intention over expectation
Because the most powerful celebrations aren’t the loudest—they’re the ones people remember.

A Celebration of Connection
At its core, The Art of Celebrating is about slowing down and honoring what matters most:
The people we gather with.
The tables we return to.
The moments we choose to mark.
Because the most beautiful celebrations aren’t just seen—they’re felt.
The Art of Celebrating launches January 27 and will be available at all major retailers.
